Start preparing for the certification test, by purchasing a voucher. Registered vouchers will contain a number that you will need in order to login for the exam. Purchase it online or through a CompTIA Authorized Partner Program. Confirmation will be sent by email with all of the voucher information, scheduled exam time and location.

Passing the exam requires a score of 675 or better. Tests will have a total of 100 questions and CompTIA will allow up to 90 minutes to finish before the automated software shut off.

Following the exam, a test score report will appear on the screen showing each exam section with marked correct and incorrect answers. Tests are Pass/Fail only.

Maintain your certification by taking a continuing education class at a CompTIA Authorized Partner Program participant or retake the certification exam. Effective January 1, 2011, certification will be valid for 3 years. Renewal will allow IT professionals keep their skills and certification current.

Failure will result in retaking the exam a second time. Certification exams can be done over without a waiting period. Failing the exam a second time will result in a 14 calendar day waiting period before scheduling the third attempt.
